BOOK YOUR PLACE

Want to power through the first draft of that novel?

Every Saturday in April, James Whitman will be running a writing bootcamp on YouTube that will take you from raw idea to a fat stack of writing. Then in May, James will help you edit your writing in a series re-drafting and critique sessions.

Writing drop-ins

These informal sessions held via YouTube allow you to pop in whenever you’re free, for whoever long you want. The writing drop-ins will take place on the following days:

  • Sat 3rd April, 10am-4pm
  • Sat 10th April, 10am-4pm
  • Sat 17th April, 10am-4pm
  • Sat 24th April, 10am-4pm

Editing workshops

Five structured sessions held via YouTube, each lasting two-hours. If signing up, you should aim to attend for the full two hours. The editing workshops will take place on the following days:

  • Sat 1st May, 10am-12pm
  • Sat 8th May, 10am-12pm
  • Sat 15th May, 10am-12pm
  • Sat 22nd May, 10am-12pm
  • Sat 29th May, 10am-12pm

Who is the bootcamp for?

The bootcamp is suitable for anyone working on a longer project – ideally a novel or short story collection. Young writers aged 14+ are welcome to attend also.

What equipment do I need?

Something to write or type with. Ideally something that can track your word count.

Stay connected

All drop-ins and workshops will take place via YouTube.

These workshops are offered by The Cultural Spring and subsidised by Arts Council England. To enable us to offer future workshop programmes we run a ‘Pay What You Can’ model for our workshops. This means they are free to attend, but if you are in a position to make a donation to support running costs this will be gratefully received. If you are not in a position to make a donation you are still most welcome to attend. We will provide more details about this later in the registration process.
