The Journal Culture Awards 2017

We’re thrilled to have been made finalists for this years Journal Culture Awards!

Inventors and A Great Night Out are both up for Best Event in Sunderland this year.

Inventors was a project which saw local inventor Dominic Wilcox ask school children and people from Sunderland and South Tyneside to draw their own ideas and inventions. These drawings were then brought to life and created by retired makers from the local area. The inventions which were created were then shown in a exhibition space in Fawcett Street in Sunderland. The project has since been taken to different countries such as China. You can see more here:

A Great Night Out was our live theatre performance which took place at The Point in Sunderland. The performance was for one night only and saw renowned theatre company WildWorks travel from Cornwall and work with local singers, actors and musicians to put on an amazing show full of local stories, songs and pride.

We’d also like to say a big congratulations to Putting The Band Back Together who are up for Best Performance. Putting The Band Back Together first started life as one of our Research and Development projects and has since performed at our Summer Streets festival, gone on tour around the country and traveled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
