First ran in 2015 with support from the Sunderland City Council, Look & Inspire: Pinhole was a community engagement project developed by local artist Jo Howell and funded by The Cultural Spring’s Research & Development scheme in 2016 to engage people with their local area through photography.

Through a series of workshops participants and community groups were taught how to build their own camera out of recycled materials and use traditional darkroom techniques to produce unique photographic images of Sunderland which featured in an exhibition in Jo’s studio at the end of the project.
